1 John 4:1-3 (NIV)
1 Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they
are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 This is how you
can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come
in the flesh is from God, 3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from
God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is
already in the world.
The spirit of the antichrist will come and say, "God said, God said." These
false prophets are just entertainment for a deceiving, spiteful spirit that comes and says,
"Hi I'm Jesus Christ." That should be nothing to us. The bible says that the
antichrist will come as a spirit of light. In other words, he'll come and he'll say
that he is a prophet but really he is not a prophet. He is a prophet by calling but not by
commissioning. He is the same as the woman that made a lot of money for her masters
following Paul saying, "These are the men that lead to the way of salvation." She
was saying the right thing but why did Paul cast the devil out of her? She had a spirit of
divination or fortune telling. It will take you into absolute destruction rather than build
you precept upon precept, line upon line.
That is the very thing we need, an unsubmissive spirit for that thing to come
in and deceive us. It will try to make us feel special, "God is speaking to you." If
there is one thing that I've always admired about Kenneth Hagen is that whenever a
spirit came to him he put that angel through rigorous tests to find out if it was from God.
Wouldn't it have been wonderful if Joseph Smith had have done that before the birthing
of the Mormon Church when the angel Morony came to him and gave him all those writings? If
only he had have tested and tried that spirit by putting it up against the wall with the
word of God. There wouldn't be millions of people in deception in the world today.
