Hebrews 12:6 (NIV)
Because the Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes everyone He accepts as a
son.
It's not just enough if He accepts you as a son or a daughter for whom the Lord
loves He chastens. He uses the word scourge. Do you know what the word scourge means?
That's getting right down inside of you and it is the worst form of discipline you can
possibly get. That's black and blue. He is saying, "I'm going to bring you into
line". We get so upset if the Lord says, "Oh well, your going to have to wait until
tomorrow before I can deliver it". We wonder why we wind up in a mess.
The bible says, "At the smell of water, the stump will bare again". So if
issues are not dealt with and God hasn't scourged us, when the anointing comes all those
things that we seemingly overcome are then a field of stumps and we think "Oh we're
getting through", but at the smell of water the stumps will bare again and all those
things will start to grow back into your life. He said that He scourges you and He gets down
there and He takes the root right out of you. He just doesn't trim up the hedges but He
wants to get to the root of the problem and pull it out. That's powerful when you look
at that. He scourges every son who He receives. If your not getting disciplined your not
born again, you're just in the kingdom of God by trespassing. It's not just for one.
Everybody is subject to it that is in the family that has truly been born again.
