Mark 10:46-52 (NIV)
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and His disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus that is, the Son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" 48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" 49 Jesus stopped and said, "Call him." So they called to the blind man, "Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you." 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. 51 "What do you want Me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." 52 "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Bartimaeus was a blind man in the bible who was a beggar by nature and circumstance. He had to beg to stay alive. He was a beggar but he was a Jew by birth and as a Jew he had an awesome agreement with God, that God would bless him, (Deuteronomy 28:1-13). A change was about to take place in his life between what circumstances had made him and what he was born to be. Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus was at a point in his life where he had to make a decision. Did he go to Jesus as a beggar or did he go to Him as a son of Israel? "If He is the Messiah, I cannot go to Him as a beggar". He made a decision.

The bible says that he tore off his beggars garment as he went. If we are willing to die to self, if we are willing to forgive, if we are willing to change, but so many Christians come in and want Jesus but they want Jesus with their unforgiveness. They want Jesus with their criticising spirit, a spirit of judgement. They want Jesus with their jealous spirit. You see, I believe that we have to prepare ourselves for revival. Just as blind Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, I believe it is our responsibility to rend our hearts and not our garments.
